GALVESTON — Larry L. Cottrell, 75, Galveston, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at his home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1938, to Cecil and Thelma (Tudor) Cottrell. On Oct. 26, 1958, he married Mary Kay Becker in Kokomo. She preceded him in death Oct. 5, 2005. Larry was a truck driver for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, the Fraternal Order of Police and the NHR. He loved traveling, being outside, doing yard work on his John Deere tractor and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Mike Thieke of Galveston; grandson, Zachary Lee Thieke of Galveston; nephews, Phillip E. and Rodney Cottrell; nieces, Debbie Crow and Sherry Allen; sister-in-law, Gretna Hightower; and a special friend, Linda McCoy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Kay; and one brother, Charles Cottrell.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Janie Cook and Julie Maggart, who helped take care of Larry during his recent illness.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston, with Pastor Kenny Cole officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Kokomo.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
