YOUNG AMERICA — Rita L. White, 67, Young America, passed away at 9:42 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at her home in Young America surrounded by her family.
She was born Jan. 21, 1947, in Carroll County, to Donald W. and Marjorie L. (Looker) Catt. On Aug. 3, 1969, in Bunker Hill, she married Norman E. White, and he survives. Rita was a homemaker and member of Pythian Sisters and the Bunko Club. She enjoyed cooking and making candy, painting ceramics and crochet. She loved attending her daughter’s softball games and never missed a one. She also attended many of her grandchildren’s sporting events, too.
Surviving are her husband, Norman, of Young America; three daughters, Kim and husband Ed Zimmerman of Logansport, Shawn White and companion Bobbie Cox of Galveston, and Karla A. White and companion Bob Cohee of Young America; five grandchildren, Bradley, Blake, Cole, Mackenna, Brock and Kyle; four sisters, Donna and husband Bill Hylton of Camden, Lora Leigh and husband Larry Vernon of Logansport, Beth and husband Mike Martin of Kokomo and Angela Ringeisen and fiancee John Gooldy of Peru; one brother, Brian and wife Karen Catt of Kokomo; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents and a foster sister, Linda Sprinkle. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Premier Hospice and caregivers Rita and April.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston, with Pastor John Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery near Young America.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
