---- — PERU — Carla Jean Bowyer, 61, Peru, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014.

She passed peacefully surrounded by family. She was a successful businesswoman in the health-care industry for more than 30 years. For the last several years, she spent time farming with her husband of 43 years, Don Bowyer. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader and loved doting on her grandchildren, who her world revolved around. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Peru.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Bowyer, of Peru; and her two daughters, Lindsey Maple and husband Nick of Amboy and Tamra Wilson and husband Ben of Indianapolis. She has three wonderful grandchildren, Lilly Maple, Bauer Maple and Sawyer Wilson. In addition to her immediate family, she is also survived by her two sisters, Anne Sermon of San Diego, Calif., and Diana Vasbinder and husband Jim of San Antonio, Texas. She also has several nieces and nephews.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas D. Sermon and Bernice V. Sermon; her brother, Thomas D. Sermon Jr.; and her sister, Pamela M. Sermon.

A funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Peru, with Father Eric Underwood officiating. Burial will immediately following the Mass in Ever Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Logansport.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at Allen’s Funeral Home, Bunker Hill.
