SANDY, Utah — Mary E. Cripe, 97, Sandy, Utah, formerly of New Waverly, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, April 27, 2014, at her residence.
She was born in Peru on March 4, 1917, the daughter of Charles and Ethel Kile Oldham.
Mary married Wayne A. Cripe in Valparaiso Oct. 31, 1943, and he preceded her in death March 11, 1987.
Mary and her husband, Wayne, owned and operated the Cripe Elevator and Lumber Co. in New Waverly until their retirement in 1984. She was a member of New Waverly United Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Methodist Church and the Miami Township Home Economics Club.
She is survived by her sons, Todd A. Cripe and his wife, Kathy, of New Waverly and Eric A. Cripe and his wife, Peggy, of Sandy, Utah; and grandchildren, Jason, Aubrey, Nicole, Bradley, Charlotte, Chanelle and Rich.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; five brothers; and two sisters.
A service celebrating the life of Mary E. Cripe will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru, with Pastor Gail Law officiating. Burial will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.
Family and friends will gather from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
