ROYAL CENTER — John F. Kochel, 69, Royal Center, passed away at 3:09 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born on Aug. 22, 1944, in Logansport, he was the son of the late James and Grace (DeWitt) Kochel. On June 24, 1964, he married Rita S. Corcoran.
He was a 1963 Royal Center High School graduate and he was a U.S. Army veteran.
John retired after 32 years from Chrysler in Kokomo.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers and he enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Rita S. Kochel of Royal Center; daughter, Daphne J. Sanders (Jeff) of Orlando, Fla.; son, Terry J. Kochel (Chris) of Royal Center; sister, Donna Rae Wallace (Les) of Star City; brother, Ronnie Kochel (Phyllis) of Walton; sisters-in-law, Jerry Culp of Logansport; Bette Angle (Don) of Lake Wells, Fla., and Carol Corcoran of Logansport. He is also survived by grandchildren, Matthew Sanders, Garrit Sanders, Dustin Kochel, Adam Wilson and Alex Wilson, and great-granddaughter, Bella Sanders; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by sister, Conna Mae Kochel, brother, Gail Dean Kochel and brothers-in-law, Dave Culp and Tom Corcoran.
Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Harrison-Metzger- Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel, with Pastor Carolyn DeWitt officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial with military rites will follow in Bell Center Cemetery.
