---- — Leaetta J. Douglas, 78, Royal Center, passed away unexpectedly at 12:50 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born on June 12, 1935, in Cass County, she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Geneva (Schreckenghaust) Vernon. On June 28, 1953, she married Charles L. Douglas. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2007.

She was a 1953 Royal Center High School graduate.

Leaetta retired from Knebel Insurance in Royal Center after many years in the office. She also worked part time at the Royal Center Town Hall office.

She was a member of Crooked Creek Christian Church, where she also taught Sunday School. Leaetta was also a member of the Royal Center Pythian Sisters and she volunteered at The Salvation Army. She enjoyed drinking coffee and spending time with friends, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Ronald Douglas (Jan) of Peru; granddaughter, Sabrina Stackhouse (Ryan) and their daughter, Sadie Stackhouse all of Fishers; grandson, Blake Douglas (fiancé, Ashley Black) of Indianapolis; and special friends, Don and Darlene Kerr and family.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel, with Chaplain Scott Ellison officiating. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
