CHEROKEE VILLAGE, Ark. —
Robert Gale Strong, formerly of Logansport, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013, at his residence in Cherokee Village, Ark.
Born Dec. 14, 1920, in Koskiosko County, Ind., He was the son of Hugh M. Strong and Alta G. Hibschman Strong. He was a graduate of Metea High School. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Philippines. He married Iona Stroughton May 4, 1947. They were married at Concord Presbyterian Church in Indiana, and she passed away Sept. 28, 1999.
He had two children, Connie Grandstaff and Alan Strong.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iona, his daughter, Connie, his brother, Lloyd, and two sisters, Esther Everest and Opal Grumpp.
He is survived by two sisters, Gladys Coffing and Thelma Butcher; his son, Alan Strong; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Ash Flat, Ark. He loved woodworking.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver. Burial will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday before the service.
