Clarence Peck

Clarence Peck, 90, Logansport, passed away at 4:26 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, in Fort Wayne, following complications from injuries he incurred in a recent fall at home.

Born May 25, 1922 in Logansport, Indiana, he was the son of the late Fredrick W. and Margaret Hoover Peck. On Aug. 7, 1957 in the Anoka United Methodist Church, he was married to Leona “Genny” Washburn Peck, who survives.

A 1942 graduate of Logansport High School, Clarence was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army. In October of 1950, he began his career as a firefighter for the City of Logansport. He retired in January of 1981, seeing many changes and making many friendships over the 30 years he served the community.

Clarence was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church. He also belonged to the VFW Post 3790 and the American Legion Post 60.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen “Kathy” and Joseph Russo of Surprise, Ariz., Janet and Stephen Skinner of Potomac Falls, Va. and Joann and Greg Gotshall of Logansport; two sisters, Rosa Roller and Marcella Clem; seven grandchildren Julie (husband Jose) Dominguez, Elizabeth (husband Matt) Kauffman, Andrew (wife Jamie) Skinner, Jenna Skinner, Trent Gotshall, Kyle Clayton, Joel Gotshall; and four great-grandchildren, Joey Dominguez, Khloe Clayton, Maisy Kauffman and Marlee Kauffman.

A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the St. James Lutheran Church, 430 Ninth St., with the Rev. K.C. Dehning officiating. The Logansport Fire Department Honor Guard will participate, with the funeral procession passing by the Central Station for the “Last Alarm.”

Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Fisher Funeral Chapel.

Contributions may be made to the St. James Lutheran Contingency Fund.
