KING, N.C. —
Vera L. Healey, 79, King, N.C., formerly Logansport, passed away at 1:36 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Universal Healthcare Center, King, N.C.
Born Dec. 7, 1933, in Tyler Town, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Fleet S. and Ruth Simmons Magee. On April 19, 1959, in McComb, Miss., she was married to Lawrence R. Healey, who preceded her in death Aug. 12, 2001.
A homemaker, Vera was a 1953 graduate of Progress High School in Mississippi. She was a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church. Vera was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed quilting and embroidery.
Surviving are two sons, Lawrence Dale Healey of King, N.C., and Lloyd David Healey of Logansport; and two sisters, Mary Strayband of Osyka, Miss. and Anna L. Magee of Jackson, Miss.
She was preceded in death one brother, Charles Edward Magee.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ralph Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in Paint Creek Cemetery, Camden.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
