James R. Hackett, Sr., 75, Logansport, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his residence.
Born May 24, 1937 in Pulaski County, he was the son of Ray K. and Lucile Heninger Hackett.
He was married April 30, 1960 to Shirley Conklin, who survives.
Jim was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Elco Industries. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, motorcycling and John Wayne movies.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, James R. Hackett, Jr. of Kokomo; daughters, Connie (Bill) Nealis of Peru and Traci Nikitaras of Logansport; brother, Kenneth (Diana) Hackett of Venice, Fla.; sister, Caroline Roller of Fort Wayne; and mother-in-law, Jane Conklin of Logansport. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kroeger Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kroeger Funeral Home.
