James “Jim” C. Jones, 75, Walton, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at his home.
Born in Central City, Ky., on Feb. 6, 1937, to Benjamin and Myrtle Louise (Tarrance) Jones, he married Cheryl L. (Tharp) Jones on Jan. 8, 1966, in Kewanna.
He worked 20 years for Erny’s Fertilizer, Walton, and then worked for Jet Transport as a truck driver.
He was affiliated with the American Legion Post 418 and MOPAR Club.
He enjoyed classic cars and going to car shows and loved NASCAR, fishing, camping and watching his grandkids play ball. He enjoyed his children and loved the military.
He served in the Air Force 10 years, 1955 – 1965, with duties in 19 foreign countries.
Survivors include wife, Cheryl Jones, Walton; son, Nick J. (Marcia) Jones, Griffin; daughter, Melissa D. Waterbury, Chandler; son, Bryan M. Jones, Walton; son, Jason & Cristina, Walton; grandchildren, Jeremy, Kevin, Alisha, Larry Jr., James, Ronald, Keith Jr., Glen, Halie, Kenzie, Gracie and Lillie; granddog Cinnamon; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Morris Jones, Gerald Jones, Michael Jones, all of Evansville; sisters Sue Payton and Dana Jones, both of Evansville; mother-in-law Gertrude P. Birnell, Walton; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife (Doris Jean Jones), two sons (James Jr. and Scotty), daughter Kimberly, brother Donald Jones and two sisters, Jonell Koonce and Hilda Reisz.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home with Chaplain Ken Rushing officiating. Burial will be at Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or the American Legion.
