KOKOMO — Richard Ray “Dick” McCauley, 73, Kokomo, passed away at 2:52 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at his home.
He was born Jan. 9, 1941, in Miami County, to Earnest and Hazel (Watkins) McCauley. On March 22, 1963, he married Diana Y. (Miller) McCauley, and she survives.
He graduated from Galveston High School in 1960, where he was a standout performer on the basketball and track teams. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service and was a member of the Local 292.
He was an excellent carpenter and loved fishing, spending time with his family and watching many of his favorite sports teams, including the Chicago Bears and any team that included one of his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Diana; sons, Brent (Sarah), Lake Bluff, Illinois, and Greg (Julie), Kokomo; grandsons, Sean, Christian and Matthew McCauley; granddaughters Katharine, Madeline and Meghan McCauley; step-grandchildren Lexi, Hannah and Shay Adams, and Chase Guy; siblings, Jim (Carlis) McCauley, Debra Frye, Dorothy (Dave) Catt, all of Kokomo; brothers-in-law John D. Miller, Westfield, and Max Miller, Texas; and several nephews and nieces and grand-nephews and -nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Marjorie Crockett and Lola Aucoin and brother Bill McCauley.
Visitation will at 10 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Friday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Lee Miller officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to either the St. Joseph Foundation or Guardian Angel Hospice.
