ROYAL CENTER — Robert “Bob” L. Herren Jr., 74, Royal Center, passed away at noon on Sunday, June 22, 2014, in his home.
He was born on De. 24, 1939, in Kokomo, to the late Robert Lewis and Rosemary (Wiles) Herren Sr. Bob graduated from Kokomo High School in 1957 then later furthered his education with an apprenticeship through IBEW which he completed in 1967.
Bob served our country with the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1964 before being honorably discharged. On March 20, 1970, Bob married Cynthia Dunham. Bob retired from Chrysler where he worked as an electrician for many years. He belonged to the UAW local 685 and the IBEW local 873. Bob also belonged to the Western Beagle Club and thoroughly loved breeding and raising beagles. He also raised pigeons and chickens. Bob was a gardener and planted both vegetables and flowers.
Bob is survived by his children, Kristina Hast, Robert “Todd” (Noelle) Herren and Heather Herren, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters, Barbara Louise (Dale) Jarrett and Patricia Ann Fivecoate; brother, Roger Eugene (Linda) Herren; and sister-in-law, Nina Herren. Other survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins and previous wife, Cynthia.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jackie Lee Herren; and one grandson.
There will be a graveside service for Bob at 10 a.m. Monday at Albright Cemetery, 3910 Albright Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Ken Spangler officiating, and military rites provided by the Kokomo VFW and the U.S. Navy Military Rites Teams.
Bob’s friends and family are welcome to join for a time of visitation from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., Kokomo.
