James E. Shoup, 81, Twelve Mile, passed away at 2:46 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor. Born Dec. 25, 1932, in Cass County, he was the son of Albert and Gladys Doud Shoup. On April 3, 1960, in Logansport, Jim was married to Shirley L. Key, who preceded him in death Nov. 20, 2000. On Aug. 10, 2002, in the Metea Baptist Church, he was married to Karen (Kent) Campbell, who survives in Twelve Mile.
Jim graduated from Metea High School, and served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. He retired from Essex Wire in Peru, and had been the owner of The Animal Shoup boarding and grooming shop until 1997.
He was a member of the Metea Baptist Church.
Also surviving are a sister, Clara Alice Troutman, Metea; brother, Robert Shoup, Metea; stepdaughters, Kimberly (John) Pattison, Cambridge City, Cindy (Craig) Douglass, Twelve Mile, and Melissa (Chad) Haxton, Fishers; nine stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Kroeger Funeral Home. The service will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Bill Cordes officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
