KOKOMO — Laura “Agnes” Hanson, 93, Kokomo, formerly of Galveston, passed away at 5:12 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Waterford Place Health Campus.

She was born Jan. 31, 1920, in Carroll County, to Lewis Lee and Carrie Elizabeth (Etter) Thomas. On June 25, 1939, Agnes married Warren E. Hanson, who passed away Oct. 27, 2000.

Agnes was a 1938 graduate of Burlington High School. She worked for Kingston Production in the payroll department, 10 years with J.C. Penney in Kokomo and drove a school bus for Southeastern School Corp. for 12 years. Agnes was a member of Parr United Methodist Church, former member of Baptist Church of Galveston and Eastern Star of Galveston.

Survivors include sons, Lew (Barbara) Hanson of Gold Canyon, Ariz., and Larry (Linda) Hanson of Galveston; grandchildren, Courtney (Alex) McNaughton, Carrie (Josh) Bunting, Jennifer (Brian) Van Horn and Stephanie (Michael) Whitesell; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Amelia Laura Van Horn, Caylee and Levi Whitesell and Georgie and Soren McNaughton.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Warren E. Hanson and siblings, Myrtle “Florence” Bell, Mary “Edna” Trueb, Bryron Harold Thomas, Manford “Paul”Thomas and Purnal Kidd “P.K.” Thomas.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with the Rev. Richard Whitesell officiating. Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
