TWELVE MILE — Rex W. Smith, 61, Twelve Mile, passed away at 10:21 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

Born Aug. 27, 1952, in Pratt, Kan., he was the son of the late Tommy and Marjorie (Dales) Smith.

On July 30, 1982, in Knoxville, Tenn., he married Fayetta “Fay” J. (Malott), who survives.

Rex was a former truck driver, heavy equipment operator, farmer and jack of all trades.

Other survivors, besides his wife, include one son, Micky Smith, Logansport; five sisters, Sandy (Jim) Morby, Kansas, Joyce (Mike) Prothman, Nebraska, Nancy (Tom) Bowman, Kansas, Gloria (Loren) Reinke, Nebraska, Ruth (Jim) Crosby, Nebraska; two brothers, Max Smith, Kansas, Roy (Deb) Schilousky, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Micheal Smith, Rex Smith and Cassandra Smith; one great-grandchild, Camden Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

One brother, Terry Schilousky, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Gundrum Funeral Home. There will be no services.

Contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gundrum Funeral Home and Cass County Crematory.
