Mrs. Hyman was a school teacher for 30 years, the last 15 of which she taught in Griffith, retiring in the early 1980’s. Carol moved from Griffith to Lebanon in July 2000 to be closer to her family. She enjoyed her last four years at Homewood Health Campus.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Carol loved visits from her grandchildren. She enjoyed doing word games, needlework and playing golf.

She was a member of Central Christian Church of Lebanon, Eastern Star Floral 75 and Boone County Retired Teacher’s Association.

Survivors include daughter, Mrs. Dottie H. Ostby and husband, Kirk, Lebanon; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Karen Hyman, St. Joseph, Mich., three grandchildren, Eric Ostby, Lebanon, Jennifer Ashland and husband, Scott, Fishers, and Fr. Daniel Hyman, Kalamazoo, Mich.; great-grandson Ryan Ashland, Fishers; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Carol was preceded in death by her son, Philip M. Hyman, II, an infant daughter and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, with the Rev. Brad Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Center Cemetery in Cass County.

Visitation is planned from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Lebanon.
