GALVESTON — Robert J. “Bob” Gillam, 78, Galveston, passed away at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at his home, Galveston.

He was born Oct. 25, 1934, in Kokomo to Robert J. Gillam Sr. and Elizabeth (Burns) Gillam.

He married Marilyn M. (Johnson) Gillam on Feb. 6, 1957, and she preceded him in death Nov. 29, 2002. He then married Betty Donahue Gillam on June 3, 2006, and she survives.

He was self-employed in construction and remodeling

He was affiliated with Chapel Hill Church, Kokomo, and Galveston American Legion.

He enjoyed woodworking and fishing in his pond. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Gillam, Galveston; son, Ronald L. Gillam and wife Pat, Westfield; daughter, Dianne L. Taylor and husband Jerry, Galveston; five grandchildren, Brenda Gillam, Shaela Taylor, Melissa Gillam, Colton Taylor and Gavin Taylor; brother, Charlie (Carol) Gillam, Kokomo; and two sisters, Pat Gillam, Logansport, and Ginny Gillam, Terre Haute.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marilyn; two grandchildren, Austin and Bailey Taylor; two brothers and one sister.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Galveston United Methodist Church, Galveston, with Rich Saxton officiating. Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery, Galveston, with graveside military rites.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
