Leora Margaret “Peggy” Ellis


LOGANSPORT — Leora Margaret “Peggy” Ellis, 80, Logansport, passed away at 3:50 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born Feb. 6, 1932, in Malvern, Penn., she was the daughter of James Edward and Margaret M. McCardell Dixon.

Peggy was married to Francis E. “Frank” Ellis, who preceded her in death on April 9, 2010.

A 1950 graduate of Logansport High School, she was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and All Saints Ladies Society. Peggy was retired from the dietary department of the Logansport State Hospital.

Peggy enjoyed playing cards and ceramics, but she especially enjoyed her family, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are daughters, Sue (Patrick) Shannon, Logansport, Debra Jean (Gary) Blevins, Florence, Ala., Pamela Francine (Jeff) Miller, Logansport, Teresa Lynn Klimes, Logansport; sons, Francis Eugene Ellis II, Indianapolis, Richard Dean Ellis, Clermont, Ind., and David Dixon Ellis, Logansport; a brother, Jim (Kathy) Dixon, Surprise, Ariz.., a sister, Patricia (Ronald) Albright, Plymouth, Ind., a brother-in-law, Larry (Phyllis) Ellis, Elkhart; step-sisters, Doris (Glen) Taylor, Canton, Ohio., Velma (Jim) Oxendine, Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and Marie Cuthbert, Johnson City, Tenn.

Also surviving are grandchildren, James Thurston, Tara Fultz, Courtney Fultz, Jody (Kenny) Achey, Baylee Miller, Jacob Klimes, Jessica Klimes, Angie Cone, J.J. Ellis, Ashley Ellis, David Francis Ellis, Kayla Ann Ellis, Pat (Susie) Shannon, Tom (Jody) Shannon, Tim (Abbi) Shannon and Mike (Jessica) Shannon; 30 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were grandchildren Jason Klimes and Tina Dingus, step sisters, Nellie Vines and Shirley Sines, and a son-in-law, Charlie Popejoy.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Catholic Church. The Rev. Mike McKinney will officiate.

Interment will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kroeger Funeral Home, where there will be a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic School.
