Joshua J. Smith


LOGANSPORT — Joshua J. Smith, 32, Logansport, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Ind. 25 near Delphi.

Born Sept. 22, 1980, in Frankfort, he was the son of Everett “Benny” and Annette Laughner Smith. His parents survive, residing in Frankfort.

Josh was married in Logansport Aug. 1, 2008, to Jennifer Hamm, who survives.

He was employed as a maintenance supervisor for Indiana Packers in Delphi. A 1999 graduate of Frankfort High School, Josh earned associate’s and bachelor’s degrees at ITT Technical Institute in Indianapolis.

He had been employed as an engineer at Delphi Electronics in Kokomo.

Josh enjoyed playing video games, bike riding, fishing and sledding. He coached Logansport Youth League baseball and enjoyed all the activities of his son. He attended All Saints Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife and his parents, Josh is survived by a son, Jace Smith, at home; maternal grandmother, Josephine Laughner and paternal grandmother, Barbara Smith; brothers, Kevin (Shantelle) Smith and Tyler Smith, both of Frankfort.

Also surviving are a father-in-law, Dennis (Grace) Hamm of Sioux Falls, S.D.; brother-in-law, Justin (Erin) Hamm of Logansport; stepbrother-in-law, Daniel Delgadillo and stepsister-in-law, Jaque Delgadillo, both of Sioux City, Iowa; seven nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Max Laughner and Marion “Luther” Smith.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Kroeger Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a college fund for Jace Smith, in care of Kroeger Funeral Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
