Robert Marion Briney
PERKINSTON, Miss. — Robert Marion Briney, 88, Perkinston, Miss., formerly of Logansport, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, in his residence.
Born in Delphi on May 14, 1925, Robert was the son of Alfred Augustus and Mary Isabel Roach Briney.
He was married on July 26, 1947, in St. Joseph’s Church in Reynolds, to Phyllis Ann Blackburn Briney, who preceded him in death.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Pinecrest Manor Apartments and had also been employed at the Pharos-Tribune in Logansport. While living in Logansport, he was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Matthew The Apostle Catholic Church near his home in Mississippi.
He is survived by sons, James A. (Kathy) Briney, Bayville, N.J., Thomas D. (Becky) Briney, Pass Christian, Miss., and Timothy P. (Kim) Briney, Temekula, Calif.; daughters, Patricia A. (Terry) Morgan, New Waverly, Roberta A. Briney, Perkinston, Miss., Theresa A. (Eugene) Wulsin, Cincinnati, Ohio, Melissa A. (John) James, D’Iberville, Miss., and Katrina A. (Chris) Helm, Oxnard, Calif; two sisters, 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death in addition to his wife were brother, John “Jack” Alfred Briney; sisters, Kathryn Elizabeth Douglas Gates and Ruth Eileen Briney; nephew, John S. Briney, and great-grandson, Wyatt Matthew Cook.
Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church.
