George E. Hendrix, 74, Indianapolis, formerly Logansport, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis.
Born April 13, 1939, in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Albert and Edith May Titus Hendrix. On Sept. 4, 1982, in Logansport, he married Diann L. Long, who survives.
George worked for Chrysler Automotive for 37 years, and Crystal Dairy for five years.
He was a graduate of New Waverly High School and enjoyed collecting baseball cards, marbles, coins and watching NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon.
Surviving along with his wife are two daughters, Lisa (Craig) Shanteau, Indianapolis; Julie (Leonard) Heise, Kokomo; two sons, Greg (Ruth Ann) Hendrix, Indianapolis, and Tim (Donna) Hendrix, Pensacola, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Albert (Margaret) Hendrix, Peru; two sisters, Nancy (Dave) Rentschler, Paris, Mo., and Dorris (Danny) Regan, Logansport; two sisters-in-law, Vicky (Bob) McFarland, Vincennes, and Barbara Jean Hall, Rockville; brother-in-law, Edgar (Shirley) George, Elizabethtown; and several nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by a nephew, Daniel Hendrix; niece, Kathy Barkley; sister-in-law, Patty Bowman; and brother-in-law, William George.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Dr. George Plasterer officiating. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Logansport Athletic Department.
