Edward R. ‘Ed’ Maple

FISHERS — Edward R. “Ed” Maple, 69, Fishers, formerly of Logansport, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.

Ed had courageously battled cancer for the past four and a half years.

Born April 22, 1944, he was the son of the late Paul Sr. and Betty (Hutton) Maple. On Dec. 22, 1972, in the Shiloh Lutheran Church in Walton, he was married to Karen L. (Turner) Maple, who survives.

A 1963 graduate of Logansport High School, Ed served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

For several years, Ed owned and operated Maple Construction in Logansport. In 2009, he retired from the city of Palm Bay, Fla., where he had served as the city building inspector.

Ed was a member of the Fishers Masonic Lodge No. 533 and the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Walton American Legion Post 418 and a life member of the VFW Post 3790 in Logansport.

An avid golfer, Ed achieved a hole-in-one at the Savannah Golf Course in Florida. His warm smile and fun-loving personality endeared him to many friends. He especially cherished the friendships of his classmates over the years. His greatest role was that of father and “grandpa.”
