---- — KOKOMO — Ronald J. “Nick” Nickels, 70, Kokomo, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at his home.

He was born Aug. 20, 1943, in Logansport, the son of Ivan and Louise (Conn) Nickels. On Feb. 4, 1967, he married Judy Tyler, who preceded him in death Oct. 3, 1992, after 25 wonderful years of marriage. On Oct. 31, 1995, he married Diane (Stine) Kaufman Federspill, who survives.

Nick was a 1961 graduate of Star City High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Cuneo Press for 1.5 years and then for Delco for 35 years as a millwright. He was a member of First Church of God and Walton Masonic Lodge F&AM 423 in Walton.

Nick is survived by his wife, Diane; three sons, Jay Nickels, Dion Nickels and Mathew Nickels; nine grandchildren, Jacob, Jalyn, Jordyn, Braxton, Brooklyn, Katelyn, Nolyn, Shia and Jersey; one sister, Arlene Rosell; brother-in-law, Jeff (Debbie) Tyler; sister-in-law, Faye Taylor; step-sons, Scott (Vivian) Kaufman and Michael (Amanda) Federspill; five step-grandchildren, Mia, Ava, Owen, Lauren (Matt) and Nicholas; father-in-law, Paul (Ethel) Stine; and brother-in-law, Steve (Mary) Stine.

The family would like to thank the First Church of God for all of their love and support during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home and Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor John Newton and Pastor Jerry Ausbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force and VFW Military Rites Team.

Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
