Eleanor Jean Peattie, 84, Logansport, passed graciously into God’s presence at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014, at WoodBridge Health Campus.
Eleanor was born July 2, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., to William and Louise Powell Rohrbach.
On Nov. 19, 1955, she married Robert G. Peattie at Grosse Pointe Baptist Church, Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. Pastor Dale Ihrie officiated.
Surviving are her children, Becky (Howard) Brewer, Bob (Connie) Peattie and Scott Peattie, all of Logansport; grandchildren, Kim Gordon, Chicago, Kelly Gordon, Michael (Sara) Berry, all of Kokomo, Jacob Peattie, Warsaw, and Julia Peattie, Logansport.
Eleanor was a member of First United Methodist Church.
When her children were in high school, she worked in the Logansport High School cafeteria and also at Mr. Happy Burger West, where she was known as the “chicken lady.”
She later enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, which she considered an honor and a calling.
Along with her children and grandchildren, Eleanor is survived by a sister, Norma McCauley, Warren, Mich.; and nieces and nephews, Bill and Lynn McCauley, Sue and Ron Keahn, Jimmy and Christine McCauley, all of Detroit, Mich., Cheryl McCauley, Chicago, Denny Endert, Upland, Calif., and Gordon Banks, Manchester, England.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Bob Peattie; a brother, Glen Rohrbach; a sister, Helen Endert; a nephew, Jerry McCauley; and a niece, Donna Endert.
You are invited to join the family for a celebration of Eleanor’s life from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall (downstairs) at First United Methodist Church, 800 E. Broadway.
