Donald C. Jamison

April 19, 1933 - March 16, 2014

Donald C. Jamison, 80, went to be with the Lord at 5:26 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014, in his home, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Cass County, he was born April 19, 1933, in Logansport, to Earl & Esther (Emery) Jamison. He graduated from Logansport High School with the class of 1951.

Don served his country in the United States Army from May 1953 to April 1955, during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. On May 22, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Jones, in the Ninth Street Christian Church in Logansport.

Don worked as a glazier at Bet-R-Way Glass Company for nine years and retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after 27 years. Then he did carpentry work for an additional 10 years.

He enjoyed playing golf and basketball and especially enjoyed the winters spent at their winter home at Rainbow Resort, Frostproof, Fla. The basketball court at Rainbow was named “Don Jamison Basketball Court.” He was known and loved by his family and friends for his quick wit and fun personality.

After his many years of service, he was recognized as an Elder Emeritus of the River of Life Christian Church (formerly Ninth Street Christian Church), and he was a member of the Sanctuary Choir. He has served as Chairman of the Board of the church, Chairman of the Elders, Chairman of the Deacons, President of the Christian Men’s Fellowship at the church, teacher of the high school class, former leader of the youth groups, song leader and president and song leader of the Cass County Churchmen United. He also was a member of MetLife Veterans Club.

Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn; son, Mark and his wife, Donna Jamison; daughter, Vicky and her husband, Greg Marschand; eight grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeff Moss, Adam and Jessica Scott, Ashley and Andy Pedigo, Jessica and Kevin Lucy, Julia Dixson, Stephanie and Adrian Holt, Alyssa Truax and Justin Jamison; great-grandchildren, Jocelynne Moss, Zayne Scott, Damon McGuire, Jenna Moss, Paley Scott, Madison Dixson, Alexis Neal, Crew Scott, Payton Dixson, Jonathan Moss, Hudson Pedigo and Rhory Holt; sister, Phyllis Jamison; several nieces and nephews; step-grandchildren, Ara and Brice Sheriff, Blake and Tara Marschand and Carley and Curt Rawlings; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Zane Lucy, Kalyn and Emma Dixon, Briggs Sheriff, Kinsley and Bayah Marschand and Ella and Brynley Rawlings.
