---- — Jack A. Pentland, 66, Royal Center, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born Feb. 22, 1947, in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Joseph and Louise (Welcher) Pentland. On Jan. 29, 1971, he married Sue Perkins, who survives.
He was a 1966 Northwestern High School graduate. Jack also was a U.S. Army veteran, 101st Airborne who served in the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He was an Airborne Ranger who had 52 Parachute Jumps and he was also a Master Blaster.
Jack was a farmer and also was formerly employed at GM in Kokomo for 11 years. He was a member of Baptist Christian Church.
Jack enjoyed his miniature donkeys, sitting on his porch and most of all spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Pentland, Royal Center; son, Scott Pentland (Penny), Monticello; daughter, Jody Frank (Jeff), Logansport; brother, John Pentland (Lori), Kokomo; grandchildren, TJ Pentland (Stephanie), Royal Center, Nichol Bonnell, Indianapolis, Troy Pentland, Monticello, Jessica Bonnell, Royal Center, and Ashley Bonnell, Royal Center; and great-grandchildren, Coy Pentland and Isabelle Bonnell.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor Richard Utterback officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
