Pharos-Tribune

---- — Harold E. Cornell Jr., 70, Logansport, passed away at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

The son of Harold E. and Virginia Cornell, he was born in Tippecanoe County July 8, 1943.

Harold’s family were farmers. He had resided at Cardinal Services since April 2002. Prior to that, he had lived in the State Hospital in Fort Wayne and a nursing home in Arcadia.

In his limited speech, coffee was one of Harold’s favorite things that he would request. He enjoyed watching westerns such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza and John Wayne movies, as well as the Golden Girls, of which he owned the complete series. Harold was the type of person who, once you met him, you liked him. His personality and friendly smile just captured your heart and you knew you were one of his friends. He often asked, “Are you my friend?”

He was a big flirt and enjoyed going to Walmart, where he had “his girls,” to whom he blew kisses. He had also been a part of Diner Club.

He loved God and having Bible study with his church friends who came to visit monthly.

They say that people with disabilities sometimes get lost in the system. We think that Harold wasn’t lost, he was on his way to his family…”us.”

He leaves behind the following family and close friends: brother, Mike (wife, Lori) of Lafayette; sisters, Marti of Dayton, Patti of California and Merry of Brookston; along with Dee Quaglio, Paula Titus, Nikki Beebout, Teresa Duncan, Judy Sterrett, Donna McDonald, Joanne Reed, Jennifer Rottet, Jamie Allen, Charles Hand, Kelly Hoff, Tammy Burks, Marilyn Giere, Ashley Dausman and Mariah Monroe.

Visitation was held for his Cardinal family at Kroeger Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.
