GEORGETOWN, S.C. — John Scott Murray, 86, Georgetown, S.C., formerly of Logansport, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was a son of the late Basil Andrew and Jean Margaret Scott Murray. Mr. Murray was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from DePauw University and Indiana University. He was director of social services at the Logansport State Hospital in Logansport for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Murray, and a daughter, Tanya K. O’Brien.

Survivors include a son, Timothy Murray and his wife, Margaret Ann Hargis, of Indianapolis; a daughter, Tamara Murray-Tierney of Indianapolis; two step-children; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Per Mr. Murray’s request, there will be no services and interment will be in Ocean Woods Cemetery, Myrtle Beach, S.C.
