Kenneth Marvin 'Kenny' Robertson

PERU — Kenneth Marvin “Kenny” Robertson, 83, Peru (Cass County), passed away at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born March 29, 1930, in Peru, he was the son of the late Emmett and Mildred Barker Robertson. He lived on the same land his entire life.

On Dec. 19, 1953, in McKinley Memorial Church, he was married to Mildred (Hall) Robertson, who survives.

They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday.

A 1948 graduate of New Waverly High School, Kenny attended Carpenters Trade School. He was a lifetime union carpenter with Local 615, Kokomo.

Kenny was a veteran of the United States Marines serving from 1951 to 1953 in the Korean War.

He was a member and had served as an elder for Yorktown Road Church of Christ since 1973. Kenny shared his faith teaching Bible Study at the Senior Village for 20 years.

After his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking for fun, making several pieces of furniture. Kenny loved to sit on his porch swing and watch the deer. He was a friend to every bird and squirrel who graced his property. Kenny’s grandchildren were his world and he loved them dearly.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Garry Robertson of Logansport; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Weed Widup of Walton; three grandchildren, Chad (Vanessa) Robertson of Las Vegas, and Noel and Reece Widup, both of Walton; great-granddaughter, Kendall Robertson of Las Vegas; one brother, Richard (LaVerne) Robertson, of Peru; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Yorktown Road Church of Christ, with Mark Racop officiating.

Interment, with full military rites, will follow in Ever Rest Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Fisher Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Yorktown Church of Christ.

You may light a candle in memory of Kenny, share condolences in his guestbook and view his video tribute at www.fisherfuneralchapel.com.
