---- — GALVESTON — Harold B. Harris, 78, Galveston, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Hospital, Kokomo.

He was born Dec. 26, 1934, in Smithville, Tenn., to Walter Thomas and Odel (Parsley) Harris. Harold married Elsie Burton on Jan. 12, 1958, in Logansport, and she survives.

He was an engineer for the CSX Railroad, retiring with 30 years service. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 12 years as a Seabee equipment operator. Memberships include First Baptist Church of Galveston and the American Legion in Logansport.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Harris, Galveston; four sons, Gene Harris, Logansport, Roger (Mindy) Harris, Dayton, Ohio, Steve Harris, Chesapeake, Ohio, and Aaron (Mandy) Harris, Galveston; 11 grandchildren, Andrea, Matt, Robbie, Ryan, Sarah, Rachael, Zach, Lindsay, Tanner, Savanah and Kaitlyn; and six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bruce, Ralph and Steve Harris, and Ted Shriver; and two sisters, Judy Frame and Nancy Samuel.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Galveston, with the Rev. Joel Surface and the Rev. Warren K. Purcell officiating. Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery with military honors graveside.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Galveston, 207 S. Sycamore St., and one hour prior to service time on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Lewis Cass Youth League, envelopes will provided at the church.
