Mrs. Janet Lee Leffert

WALTON — Mrs. Janet Lee Leffert, 80, Walton, passed away at 1:37 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at the Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born on April 12, 1933, in Rochester, she was the daughter of John and Cleda (KiKi) Baldwin. Janet is survived by her husband Thomas M. Leffert. Janet and Thomas Leffert were married on July 30, 1966, at Calvary Presbyterian Church, Logansport. Their union of 47 years blended together a family of three loving daughters and one son. Over the years four generations were added to the family tree.

Janet fulfilled her life by loving her husband and family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, dancing, shopping, gardening, decorating, playing cards, traveling to Michigan and Florida, and spending as much time as possible with her family and friends. Janet’s joy in life was filling her home with family and friends especially during the holiday seasons. When you would walk into Janet’s home, it would sparkle with the spirit of the holiday. Janet was known for bringing her family together for traditional celebrations. The family loved her homemade cooking and you never left her house hungry. Janet will always be known for her homemade noodles and apple pies. She always made her home feel like your home.

Janet was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. Janet enjoyed giving her time to the church and her community.

Paramount in Leffert’s life is her loving family. She was the proud matriarch overseeing four generations. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Leffert was a role model and provided a positive influence on anyone who met her. She would go out of her way to help everyone around her. She was loved by all who knew her.

Left to cherish Leffert’s memory is her husband Thomas Leffert and children, Daniel Brubaker and wife Phyllis of Kokomo, Debra Leffert and husband Kenny of Logansport and Kathy Bond and husband Vic of Indianapolis. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and their spouses, 20 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
