TWELVE MILE — David Bender Zartman, 78, Twelve Mile, passed away at 11:09 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Logansport Memorial Hospital, Logansport.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1935, in Twelve Mile, the son of the late John George and F. Irene Jones Zartman. On Feb. 25, 1956, in Akron, he married Barbara Joann Arthur and she survives.
Mr. Zartman had worked for Kraft Foods for over 20 years, Gearhart Feed & Grain and for Mexico Elevator, and for over 30 years, he was a salesman selling advertising and promotional items. He was a member of the Twelve Mile United Methodist Church and had attended Deedsville United Methodist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, college basketball, playing cards and games, and loved to visit with family and friends; and over the years, Dave spent many hours visiting with community members in the hospital and local nursing homes. Dave never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Joann Zartman, Twelve Mile; children, Twila and husband Kevin Childress, Sharpsville, Robin Spencer and fiance Larry Freeman, Royal Center, and David Mark Zartman, Twelve Mile; grandchildren, Shannon and husband Henry Torres, Logansport, Adam Spencer, Logansport, Melisa and husband Tony Holmes, Sharpsville, Joshua Cree, Twelve Mile; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Rianna Torres, Logansport; aunt, Jane Jones, Galveston; cousins, Steve and wife Marianne Jones, Kim and wife Debbie Jones; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mary and husband Richard Wood, Harvey and wife Peggy Arthur.
Funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, with Pastor Bill Babb officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
