Francis M. Strong, 91, Logansport, passed away at 2:35 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, in Woodbridge Health Campus.
Born Aug. 25, 1922, in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Charley C. and Mary Edith McAllister Strong.
On April 22, 1940, near Adamsboro, he was married to Evelyn (Jones) Strong, who survives.
During World War II, Francis served in the U.S. Navy. He returned home to enjoy a lifetime career in farming.
Francis was a member of Metea Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher and superintendent for many years. He was an exceptional craftsman who enjoyed making furniture and other craft projects.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Carole Thomson of Troy, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Lynnea Strong of Logansport; five grandchildren, Denise Wickersham, Dana Thomson, Darin Thomson, Adrian Strong and Brandon Strong; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Gale R. Strong and Larry R. Strong; one brother, Robert Strong; and one sister, Mary Knight.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Metea Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Cordes officiating. Interment with full military rites will follow in the Metea Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport.
