SAN FRANCISCO — John Patrick Barrett, 57, formerly of Logansport, passed away on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, in San Francisco.
Affectionately known as “P,” Pat was born Dec. 15, 1956, in Logansport to John and Joann Barrett and lived there until finishing high school in 1975. That’s when he began a career in the golf business, which fulfilled his every dream.
To support his young family, he left the golf business and proudly worked for The Precedent Co. in Indianapolis for almost 20 years followed by two other trucking concerns. His last employer in Indianapolis, prior to moving to San Francisco, was Expedited Freight Systems.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his children, Kelsey and Jackson; his sisters, Janice Camp and Barbara Browning; his brother, Michael Barrett; and many nieces, nephews and stepchildren who now all have children that may be too young to carry on the many stories about Pappy or Uncle P.
Obedient son, devoted brother, proud American, steadfast husband, loving father, caring uncle and grandfather, a gentleman, a gentle man.
There will be an open-house celebration of his life from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Walker Cottage connected to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, any donation can be made to the American Heart Association or your local organ donation organization.
