PERU — F. Dale McKinley, 86, Peru, passed away with his wife, children and daughter-in-law at his residence on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, from complications of a stroke.
He was born on Aug. 19, 1927, in Muncie, to Lewis F. “Bud” and Lela May (Mendenhall) McKinley. He was married to Shirley J. Miller on May 16, 1954, in Miami County.
Dale served in the Korean Conflict in the 45th Infantry in the U.S. Army. He was a retired farmer.
Dale is survived by his wife Shirley; two brothers, Jon and wife Mary, and Jay and wife Nancy McKinley; two sisters, Rosemma Pop, and Judy and husband Charley Smelser; two sons, Robert D. and wife Diane, and Jerry McKinley; daughter Kay McKinley; 10 grandchildren, Michael Dewitt, Carey and husband Dallas Stout, Robin and husband Kevin McDowell, Ruth McKinley, Kristen McKinley, Joseph McKinley, Lela and husband Christopher Kaiser, Nicole Mosby, Amanda McKinley, and Dustin and wife Holly McKinley; 22 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Dale was preceded in death by his father and mother; three brothers, William, James and Dean McKinley; and one great-grandson, Bradley Eudy.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., Peru. Burial will be at Galveston Cemetery with Pastor Jay McKinley.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
