Bess Marie Williams

Bess Marie Williams, 72, of Logansport and Englewood, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, after a courageous, multi-year battle with PMR.

Bess was born Jan. 21, 1942, in New London, Ohio.

Proceeding her in death was her father, Robert Stryker; mother, Jane Dipple-Stryker; uncle, Bob Dipple; and brother-in-law, Danny Williams.

She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Doug; sons, Tony Perkins (Angie) and Marc Perkins (Kelley); stepdaughter, Dana Harmon (Paul); stepson, Doug Williams (Kim); sister, Nancy Carey (Dick); brother, Dick Stryker (Ginny); 12 wonderful and healthy grandkids, Shelby, P.D., Devin, Christa, Brooke, Johnathon, Ryan, Sidney, Bailey, Brock, Hailey and Paige; three special nieces, Susie Carey-Featheringill (Dan), Sylvia Carey-Thornburg (Randy) and Kim Stryker-Beill (Mike); sisters-in-law, Jeri Williams, Eleanor Bowden and Veetsi Williams; brother-in-law, Randy Williams; many grandnieces; grandnephews; and her special friend of more than 30 years, Judy Beach.

Bess was very patriotic, serving two years in the U.S. Navy as a nurse. She loved the warm Florida weather and all outdoor activities. Her main passion was Swedish weaving, having made many beautiful blankets that she would proudly give to her family and close friends. Bess also enjoyed competitive sports, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes football.

Bess had the most wonderful, outgoing personality and all who knew her loved to be with her and would laugh with her. She will always be loved by her husband, family and friends.

At a date to be determined, the family will host a celebration of life in Bess’ honor.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to your local battered women’s shelter.
