Catherine ‘Kay’ Susan West

COUNCIL BLUFFS — Services for Catherine “Kay” Susan West, 63, Union, Neb., will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa. A lunch will follow at “The Pad,” Lake Wakonda.

She met with the Lord on Oct. 2, 2008, after a five-year battle with breast and ovarian cancers.

She was born in Logansport to William and Catherine Roberts. She met her future husband, Adam, in San Antonio, Texas in 1977 and they married two years later in 1979.

They moved to Lytle, Texas, in 1980, where they resided for 27 years.

Kay worked as a coordinator for the Bexar County Hospital District, San Antonio, Texas, until she gave up her job to care for John’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. A.G. West.

She moved with her husband back to the Omaha area in 2007 upon his retirement.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Adam, Union, Neb.; daughters, Christina and husband, Barry Justice, Jeffersonville, Laurie and husband, Richard Hankee, Logansport; sons, Donald and his wife, Tammy Dowell, Walton, Robert Dowell, Logansport, Nathan Sowinski, Greenville, S.C., James, Devine, Texas; sister, Sally Zellers, Logansport; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
