Elna M. Miller

MONTICELLO — Services for Elna M. Miller, 91, Monticello, formerly of Monon, will be held at noon Monday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello.

She died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in her son’s residence in Logansport.

Born Saturday, Feb. 3, 1917, in Francesville, she was the daughter of Robert Kopka and May Swing. She was married May 21, 1936, in Winamac, to Dean G. Miller, who preceded in death on Jan. 30, 2007.

Elna lived in the Monon community for more than 70 years. She had been a resident of Lakeview Commons in Monticello since October 2006.

Elna was the third oldest of four children. She attended a country school for six years and then graduated from Francesville High School in 1934.

She was a loving and proud wife and mother. She was employed in the White County treasurer’s office in Monticello for 10 years. Elna had served on the White County REMC board of directors for several years in the 1960s.

She was a member of the Monon United Methodist Church in Monon, Worthy Matron of Monon Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and former member of Tippecanoe Country Club women’s golf league and local bridge clubs.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Armstrong and husband, Bob, Carmel; son Jerry Miller and wife, Ann, Logansport; sister Doris Rech, Des Moines, Iowa; granddaughters Dawn Puck and husband, David, Huntersville, N.C., Stephanie Combs and husband, Chris, Fishers, and Shelby Graham and husband, Brian, Logansport; grandsons R. Todd Armstrong and wife, Shannon, Huntersville, N.C., Scott Miller and wife, Lisa, Tell City, and Lt. Buzz Miller and wife, Alyson, Ridgecrest, Calif.; 13 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

A brother, Herbert Kopka; and sister, Lorine Graves, preceded in death.

Rev. Russ Alley of the Monon United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bedford Cemetery in rural Monon.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Monon United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
