GLENS FALLS, N.Y. — Funeral services for Larry R. Griffith, 61, Glens Falls, N.Y., will be held at noon Tuesday in the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, N.Y.
He passed away Friday morning, Sept. 5, 2008 at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Sept. 14, 1946, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Robert S. and Pauline C. Hill Griffith.
Following his graduation from Logansport High School, Larry enlisted in the United States Army in 1965, serving in Germany in the Special Security Department being honorably discharged in 1968.
Larry worked for the Logansport newspaper before relocating to Glens Falls and working for the Post Star as a proofer and scanner in the press department for many years.
Larry enjoyed camping and fishing, especially with his niece, Jessica. He loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed his “girls night out.”
Survivors include his soul mate and wife of 17 years, Sharron Burch Griffith, Glens Falls, N.Y.; one daughter, Carrie Griffith and her friend, Michael MacFadden, Massachusetts; one grandson, Owen Michael McFadden; one brother, Richard Griffith and his wife, Doris, of Logansport; one sister-in-law, Fay Winslow and her husband, Charles, Queensbury, N.Y.; one brother-in-law, Timothy Burch and his wife, Cindy, Queensbury, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
His parents preceded in death.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon on Tuesday in the funeral home.
Rev. Scott Harding, pastor of Church of the Messiah, Glens Falls, will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Pine View Cemetery, Queensbury, N.Y.
Donations, in loving memory of Larry, may be made to the American Cancer Society, 959 Route 9 Mount Royal Plaza, Queensbury, New York 12804 or to a charity of one’s choice.
Larry’s family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff in the emergency room at Glens Falls Hospital for their wonderful job, very hard efforts to save Larry beyond their call of duty and their extremely sympathetic care to his family as well.
