Georgia L. Fergus

Services for Georgia L. Fergus, 84, La Porte, formerly of Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

She died at 6:34 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, in La Porte.

Born March 19, 1924, in Logansport she was the daughter of Roy Koppe and Flora Lenon. She was married July 27, 1969, in Logansport, to James R. Fergus, who preceded in death April 6, 1980.

Mrs. Fergus was the secretary to the president of Small Parts Inc. for 22 years, retiring in 1986. She moved to La Porte in 1999.

She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church of Logansport and attended First Baptist Church of Kingsbury.

She was a gentle, loving, caring and giving lady who will be dearly missed by her family.

Surviving are daughter, Sharon Wheeland and husband, Dr. Gary, La Porte; sister, Mary Martin, Fort Wayne; brother, R. Douglas Koppe and wife, Louise, Berkley Springs, W.Va.; grandchildren, Benjamin Wheeland, and Patrick Wheeland and wife, Debra, all of La Porte; and great-grandchildren, Sydney and Zachary Wheeland, La Porte.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anita Leedy and Carmen Harris, and one grandchild, Daniel Wheeland.

Pastor Tim Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
