Robert Lee Parish

Services for Robert Lee Parish, 80, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

He died at 9:48 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, in his residence.

Born July 22, 1927, in Amboy, he was the son of Ernest Chap Parish and Cynthia Marie Deardorff. He was married May 21, 1949, in Logansport, to Lois Jayne Hinkle, who survives.

A 1946 graduate of New Waverly High School, Bob worked for 20 years on the Pennsylvania Railroad and then worked for Standard Auto Parts in Winamac, where he retired in 1990.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 60 and VFW Post 3790. Bob was a World War II Army veteran. Bob enjoyed being a member of the Royal Center horseshoe pitching league, bowling, fishing, camping and the time he spent coaching Little League and Babe Ruth.

Bob enjoyed farming with his nephews, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Also surviving are daughters, Melinda Hinkle, Walton, Cindy Parish, Indianapolis, and Patty Michael, Logansport; son, Bobby Parish and wife, Tracey, Winamac; sisters, Betty Gibson, Lafayette, Ruby Black, New Waverly, Dorothy Lynch, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Marge Clem, Peru; 10 grandchildren, Kelli Goodnight and husband, Greg, Broc Hinkle and wife, Amanda, Tom Tate, Andria Land, Mandy Michael, Robbie Michael, Keilly Parish, Jacob Franscoviak, Jarrod Parish and Jesse Parish; five great-grandchildren, Alek Briggs, Ava Briggs, Brady Land, Emma Land and Kynzie Hathaway; and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Paul and Eugene Parish; two sisters, Opal Parish and Carol Angle; and one son-in-law, Tom Tate, all preceded in death.

Rev. Scott Ellison will officiate. Burial, with full military rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Guardian Angel Hospice.
