Wilson L. ‘Poppy’ Green Sr.
Services for Wilson L. “Poppy” Green Sr., 69, Royal Center will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Harrison Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center.
He passed away Thursday July 2, 2009, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born Jan. 26, 1940, in Attica, he was the son of the late Harold and Edith (Brummett) Green. On June 23, 1962, he married Faye (Stacy), who survives.
He was a 1959 graduate of Oxford High School.
He was formerly employed at Wilson’s Meat Packing in Logansport for 23 years, and was currently head of maintenance for Area Five. He also worked for the Pioneer Athletic Department taking tickets for games.
“Poppy” loved camping and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Green, Royal Center; son Wilson L. Green Jr. and wife Stormy, Royal Center; daughters, Tammy F. King and husband Rick, Royal Center, and Melody D. Browning and husband Marty, Denver, Ind.; sisters, Betty Shephard, Fowler, Ruth Nangle and husband Bill, Sarasota, Fla., Ruby Gwin and husband Carl, Linden, Jean Hettinger, Joann Hatch, Judy Johnson and Jeanette Sumey, all of Logansport; and sister-in-law, Berniece Green, Monon. Poppy is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Kyla, Matthew and Tyler King, Kaycee, Brandi and Briar Green, Kallie and Dominic Baker, Taylor, Tanner and Craig Browning; and one great-granddaughter, Brylee Fagen.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Floyd and John Green.
Pastor Kevin Drane will officiate and burial will be in Kistler Cemetery, Royal Center.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral Home.
