Loyd C. Merkel

ROYAL CENTER — Services for Loyd C. Merkel, 91, Burnettsville, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel.

He died at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at White County Memorial Hospital, Monticello.

Born Jan. 27, 1917, in Dubois County, he was the son of the late Jacob and Ethel North Merkel. On May 18, 1978, he was married to Louise V. Armentrout Murphy, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2000.

Loyd formerly co-owned and operated Merkel’s Repair Shop in White County for over 35 years, and he was also a farmer.

Surviving are care takers Mark and Cindy Hines, Royal Center, two nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers, Norbert and Elmer Merkel.

Pastor David Webb will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Koster Cemetery in Francesville.

Friends may call one hour before the services at the funeral home.
