Logansport tennis tops Kokomo, improves to 10-0

Logansport stayed undefeated overall and in the North Central Conference by defeating Kokomo 3-2 in girls tennis action at Kokomo on Monday.

Logansport (10-0, 3-0 NCC) was dominant in singles competition by sweeping all three matches, and the Berries doubles teams also didn’t go down without a fight.

“It felt pretty good,” said Logansport coach Kelly Bullard on defeating Kokomo. “They are definitely a rival for us, and any time we beat them it feels good.”

Logansport’s No. 1 singles player Whitney Jennings and No. 2 singles player Rachel Jennings each shut out their opponents with 6-0, 6-0 scores. The Berries’ No. 3 singles player Brooke Bullard won in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.

“Our singles players are playing really well,” coach Bullard added. “They are very confident, and they go in with the mindset of not giving up games. It is nice when they have that goal. We have matches coming up with Marion, Muncie Central and Richmond. They each have strong singles players.”

Logansport’s No. 2 doubles team of Kayleigh Dance and Rachel Sims lost in three sets 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, and the No. 1 doubles team of Abby Geer and Karli Armstrong lost in straight sets 7-5, 7-5.

“[Both doubles teams] are doing all right, because they are getting better,” coach Bullard commented. “They are figuring each other out and getting better with each match.”
