Class A, No. 7-ranked Pioneer (21-8) swept Delphi in three games, which was a surprise to coach Rod Nies.
“I was expecting a much tougher game from Delphi,” Nies said. “They seemed to fall apart. We played well. We made adjustments on serving the ball. We look solid across the board. Our serve receive was really solid. We were keeping our mental mistakes and hitting errors down to a minimum. We have to continue to play better.”
Cassidy Corn led Pioneer with 11 service points, including four aces, and added four kills and three blocks. Lindsey Miller added 24 assists, four aces and three digs. Sarah Dorris contributed with 11 digs, eight service points and seven kills. Kayte Miller had 18 digs. Gabriel Dunlap came up with nine kills and four digs. Hannah Tevis had seven kills and six blocks. Riley Morris added seven digs. Brooke Harmon contributed with 12 service points, and Lindsey Stewart had three blocks.
Winamac 3, S. Newton 0
The Warriors won at home, 25-18, 25-18, 25-20, to move to 16-15 on the season.
Taelor McClure had 18 kills for Winamac. Heidi Hendryx collected 18 digs and Bethany Brogdon added 16. Whitney Hook dished 26 assists. Savanna Button had six blocks to go with seven kills.
