Big 2nd half propels DePaul to win

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Megan Rogowski and Brittany Hrynko combined to score 27 points in the second half which fueled the DePaul women’s basketball team’s 75-68 come-from-behind victory over Seton Hall on Tuesday at Walsh Gymnasium.

With the win, DePaul improves to 12-5 on the year and 3-2 in the BIG EAST Conference. Seton Hall falls to 10-5 and drops to 1-5 in league games.

Logansport’s Jasmine Penny reached the 20-point mark for the sixth consecutive game and led DePaul with 21 points. Penny recorded her second career double-double and paced DePaul with 11 rebounds. The Pirates came into Tuesday’s game with the league’s second-best rebounding average (47.4), however the Blue Demons won the battle on the glass by outrebounding SHU 47-41.

DePaul returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Villanova in a Big East contest at McGrath-Phillips Arena. The Blue Demons and Wildcats tip at 2 p.m. while the game will be carried on Fox Sports 1 with former DePaul legend Sarah Kustok calling the game.

Le Moyne men roll towin at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. – Logansport grad Nate Champion scored 19 points to lead the Le Moyne College men’s basketball team to a 71-53 win over Assumption College Tuesday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at Laska Gym.

The senior guard tallied 14 of his points in the opening half, the fifth time this season he’s reached double figures in the first half and the 12th time he has had at least 10 points in a single half. He added five assists (without committing a turnover), three rebounds and three steals despite playing a season-low 32 minutes.

Le Moyne (8-7, 5-4 NE-10) returns home to face Merrimack College on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Logan youth baseball announces sign-ups

Logansport Youth Baseball will have two sign-ups for its upcoming season on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and Jan. 26 from 1-5 p.m. at the Logansport Administration Building on George Street by the football stadium.
