---- — After a long layoff, Winamac girls basketball team finally got back on the court and came off of it with a 65-37 win over Boone Grove Monday.
The Warriors (6-5) started the game with a 17-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Winamac stiffened its defense in the second and third quarters, outscoring Boone Groove 34-9 for a 51-18 lead at the end of the third quarter.
“After playing our last game on Dec. 21, the Lady Warriors finally got back to playing and had a lot of success against a young Boone Grove team,” Winamac coach Jeff Wagner said.
Stephanie Shorter led Winamac with 30 points and 9 rebounds. Ali Larkin added 15 points for Winamac.
Rachel Cantwell led Boone Grove with 22 points.
Pioneer 127, North Judson 64, SouthNewton 32
Joanna Marshall and Kaity Cover were quadruple winners, and Emma Groff, Kayla Miller and Gabby Harvey were triple winners for Pioneer.
Marshall won in the 100 freestyle and 100 breast stroke. Cover was tops in the 500 freestyle and 200 individual medley. Groff took first in the 100 backstroke. Miller was tops in the 50 freestyle, and Harvey took first in the 200 freestyle.
Groff, Marshall, Cover and Miller teamed up to win the 200 medley relay. Marshall and Harvey joined Traci Stark and Emily Nice in winning the 200 freestyle relay, and Harvey, Groff, Miller and Cover joined forces in winning the 400 freestyle relay.
Cass 104, Kokomo 79
Maddy Karmel was a quadruple winner. Claire Crum, Kirsten Carbaugh and Trisha Hartley were triple winners, and Megan Mannering was a double winner for Cass.
Karmel won in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly. Crum took first in the 200 freestyle. Carbaugh was tops in the 500 freestyle, and Hartley won the 50 freestyle.
Karmel, Carbaugh, Hartley teamed up with Kassi Hardy in winning the 200 medley relay. Crum, Mannering and Hartley joined Sidney Stuber in winning the 200 freestyle. Karmel, Crum, Carbaugh and Mannering joined forces to win the 400 freestyle relay.
Carroll 127, Cass 56
Toby McGehee was Cass’ only victor with a win in diving.
