Logansport survives Winamac comeback in softball

Girls track

Pioneer 80.5, Cass 56,N. Miami 18.5

Maddie Kiser was a quadruple winner. Sarah Dorris was a triple winner. Mati DeWitt and Bailey Storey were double winners. Kiser was tops in the 100 dash (:12.9), 200 dash (:28.3) and 400 run (1:01.9). Dorris won the 800 run (2;34) and 100 hurdles (:18.7). DeWitt took first in the discus (113-5.5) and shot put (30-9.5). Storey was first in the 300 hurdles (:55.0).

Maddie Boucher was joined by Dorris, Storey and Kiser to win the 1,600 relay.

For Cass, Claire Crum was a double winner. She won the 1,600 (5:53) and was joined by Maci Maupin, Brooke Langley and Kelsey Smith in winning the 4x100 relay.

Tori Powell won the high jump and Haley Johnson was tops in the 3,200 run.

“We got a good look at Pioneer’s Panthers,” Cass coach Grace Scott said. “Saturday’s county meet should be very close and competitive. I’m looking forward to some great races from my girls. We tried to run things conservatively tonight, and I hope that plays off for us.”

Boys track

Pioneer 81, Cass 56,N. Miami 19

Blake Johnson, Drew Benesh and Dylan Bice were double winners for Pioneer. Johnson won the long jump (18-8) and high jump (5-10). Benesh was tops in 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles (:45.5). Bice came out on top in the 1,600 run (5:00) and 800 (2:130. Tyler Shaw won the shot put (43-8), Justin Mersch won the 100 (:11.5).
