Rentschler struck out nine and walked one.

The Comets came alive on offense as well with three runs in the first and second innings, four runs in the third and two runs in the fourth.

“It was a solid conference win for us,” coach John Bingaman said. “We got solid pitching performance and solid defense. Plus, we are hitting the ball well the second time through.”

Culver Military 159, Logansport 170

The Berries dropped their third straight dual match. Deion Rennewanz led Logansport with a score of 40, followed by Kennedy Achey (41), Bryan Worthington (43) and Will Harvey (46).

Logansport 73.5, Cass 68.5

Both Logansport and Cass came out winning eight events apiece. The Berries dominated in field events in winning four of the five events.

“The girls did a good job [Monday] in not-so-good weather,” Logansport coach Randy Kuhn said. “Cass has some good runners and coach [Grace] Scott does a great job. I think both of us were trying to rest some injured kids, and we just happened to come out on top. Now add Pioneer and Caston into the mix and it should be a good meet at the Cass County meet this Saturday.”
